Plant Spotlight: Cucumber - Suyo Long

A wacky Asian cucumber that grows well in Georgia’s summer heat. This cucumber often grows in “S” shapes, “J” shapes or even “P” shapes, but it’s got a great fresh taste. My partner, Jacob, even blends it up to drink cucumber water in the summer!

Growing notes:

• Cucumbers need 8 + hours of sunlight and lots of compost.

• Suyo long prefers a trellis, but you can grow it along the ground. However, it likely will succumb to a plant disease faster if it grows on the ground.
