Plant Spotlight: Tomato - Costoluto Fiorentino

Best mid-sized tomato I grew last year. If you’re looking for a bumpy heirloom with all that yummy taste, this is what I’d suggest. One of the most heat tolerant and productive tomato varieties, according to 2011 University of Georgia trial.

Growing notes:

• Tomatoes need 8 + hours of sunlight and lots of compost.

• This is an indeterminate tomato, so you’ll need a trellis, cage or stake for the clambering vine.

• Costoluto produces best when kept trimmed with one, or at the most two, leaders. The more wild the plant grows, the smaller fruit will result.
